St. Nicholas’ Churches are currently in Interregnum (without a vicar) owing to retirement of Rev’d Paul Southern. Services will continue during the Interregnum with the responsibility for Worship being with the Church Warden and our Readers.
Paul has left a valuable legacy of two licensed Readers in Denise Corley and Christine Gorringe; Denise and Christine are currently leading ministry and worship with the help of visiting ministers particularly for Baptisms and Communion. Other members of the churches are also being encouraged to use their gifts and talents to enrich our worship and seek new further ways of serving our communities.
The Parochial Church Councils of both churches are working together with the parishes of St Mary’s Churches of Salcott and Tollesbury and the Diocese, planning for the appointment of a new vicar who will be responsible for all four parishes when Rev’d Keith Lovell (Tollesbury and Salcott) retires following Easter 2009. Please remember us in your prayers asking that God’s hand to be upon our work and discussions during this challenging time.
Services will be as outlined in our monthly magazine Pews News. During winter months it has been decided to hold both Sunday services at one church to reduce expenditure on heating. Hopefully the savings will enable us to use the money to better effect elsewhere.
The timing of services for the Sunday 10.30am service remains unchanged (unless stated in Pews News) with 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays at Major and 2nd and 4th Sundays at D’Arcy.
